Ahhh...I'm sorry that it's Tuesday afternoon and I still haven't communicated with you all this week!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
We are all so excited to be starting a new year in our class! We have talked about new things that we might want to do this year, we have reflected on the good things that happened last year, and most of all, we are thrilled to be filling our minds with new information (to get ready for the TCAP :) !!!)
Your child came home (or should have came home) with their small reading group book and bag. Make sure that you listen to your child read and sign off that you heard the book!
This is a pretty quite week. No big announcements other than NO SCHOOL this coming Monday, January 16th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
I have introduced the kids to a new website in my classroom and they LOVE it! It's a website full of books, educational games, and much more. Just go to: http://www.tel4u.org/ and let them explore! This website is FREE and has TONS of resources!
In reading/language arts this week:
we are learning about the plot of a story, adding -ed to the endings of words, r-controlled words (ar), and verbs for now and the past.
In math:
we are talking all about MONEY!! This is SUCH a hard concept for first graders to grasp SO, if you can help me out at home and discuss it during dinner, I would be very appreciative! :)
If you have any questions, please e-mail me or write a note in your child's planner. I am here for you!
Have a GREAT week!!!
