It's hard to believe that it's already October! We have had such a blast learning many new things in class so far this year! This week is a short week for your kiddo! They have FRIDAY off!!! So, in light of no school on Friday AND a field trip to Red Clay on Thursday, I did NOT send homework packets home today! Yay! However, I would still like you to help your child to practice, practice, and practice for a spelling test on WEDNESDAY!!! These words are a little tricky this week but I really want your child to understand this spelling pattern (Consanant, Vowel, Consanant, silent e...CVCe). We will work really hard at school if you will work really hard at home too! :)
Red Clay is on Thursday! We will be leaving the school at 8:45 and returning at 2:00. If your child is packing their lunch, make sure that it is in a throw away bag (no plastic storage containers that need to be kept please).
A little glance at what we're studying this week:
Reading:
We are reading the story, The Farmer in the Hat. This story's comprehension skill is cause and effect. Our phonics skills are Long a (CVCe), c as the sound of /s/, and g as the sound of /j/.
We will be continuing our study on nouns.
Math:
We are finishing up learning and knowing the parts of 10 and finding the missing parts of 10. We will begin one lesson in Topic 6 which is about addition facts to 12.
Dates to look forward to:
October 4 PTO meeting with Dr. Ringstaff at 7:00 p.m.
October 6 Red Clay school-wide field trip
October 7 No school (Staff Development day)
October 13 Parent Conferences (sign up for a time at Open House)
October 14 Fall Festival (5:30 - 7:30)
