I know that have haven't updated you in a week and I'M SORRY!!! Last week was ONE busy week and I honestly did have time to sit down! :) But not to worry....we were busy little elves over in "Marvelous Star World"! Here are a few pictures of your little elves, busy at work finding the correct punctuation for some sentences around the room. Last week we had a "Sentence (Santa's) Workshop". Every day, the students wore their homemade elf hat in order to sharpen their sentence writing skills. They did an AMAZING job working on sentences!!!
I usually don't post personal information on my blog but I just have to tell you all that I'M MOVING!!! Don't have a panic attack yet! It's just across town! As you know, I'm getting married in March and my fiance and I found a house and I'm moving in this week and next week! We weren't looking for a house but the opportunity opened up and we couldn't pass it up. So, just in case my head doesn't seem to be on straight, you know why!! :)
Don't forget to send in gingerbread items by Wednesday (Thursday at the very latest). We will be decorating our gingerbread houses on Friday afternoon at 1:00. I will need volunteers on Friday to help with organizing candy and supplies and helping students with decorating. If you can help, please e-mail and let me know.
Our week at a glance:
In reading, we will be reading the story, Jan's New Home, along with other stories about the gingerbread boy. We will be studying the theme of each story as our reading comprehension skill this week.
In phonics, we will be learning about words that have endings of -es and r-controlled or and ore.
In math, we will be finishing up our topic of place value and moving into comparing and ordering numbers to 100. We will also be taking a math fact quiz on Friday. We are studying adding 4 but if your child has not passed a previous quiz, they will take that quiz until they pass. We're working on fluency with math facts!
